Real Madrid will be alerted to the news that transfer target José Luis Gayá is still no closer to penning a new deal with Valencia.

A report in Valencia sports newspaper Superdeporte today says that a sticking point has occurred between the player’s representatives and the club over a buy-out clause in any new deal for the left-back.

The defender, whose current deal expires in 2018, is reported to want a release clause below €30 million but Los Che are offering a deal with a €40 clause attached for interested clubs to get the talented youngster.

The full-back has long been linked with an exit from the Mestalla with Madrid possible suitors. Los Blancos have already signed Danilo from Porto to rival Dani Carvajal at right-back and will be keen to give Marcelo competition with Spain’s left-back of the future.

Reports have suggested Valencia will be willing to part with the player for €18 million this summer if they fail to reach an agreement over new deal but owner Peter Lim is eager to get him to pledge his future to the club and help form part of the future.

If he leaves, Gayá will join a list of talented left-backs who have left the club for pastures new, with Juan Bernat, to Bayern Munich, and Jordi Alba, to Barcelona, the most recent.
