Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has been hit with a two-match suspension in La Liga.
The Italian received the sanction owing to his behaviour in last Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Valencia in the Santiago Bernabeu.
Referee Clos Gomez, who took charge of the match against Los Che, reported that the Italian sarcastically applauded him for his performance and then repeated the gesture to one of his assistants in the tunnel.
The Spanish Football Federation’s (RFEF) Competition Committee announced the ban today and it means Ancelotti would have taken charge of his final league match for Madrid owing to the uncertainty over his future.
If the planned Liga strike is called off Madrid will visit Espanyol on Sunday and then bring their campaign to a close against Getafe.
The ban does not have an impact join European competition.
