Former Madrid assistant Clement named new Derby County boss

Former Real Madrid assistant Paul Clement has been named as new head coach of Derby County. Clement left Madrid alongside Carlo Ancelotti and Fernando Hierro and the move has allowed him to take his first job as a No.1 with the English second-tier club. The 43-year-old, who will be forever sketched in Madrid history as being part of the staff that helped the club to La Decima, has been charged with helping The Rams back to the Premier League. "I'm incredibly excited to be joining Derby County as Head Coach and I am looking forward to meeting the players and getting started," Clement told the official Derby website. "This is a massive club with fantastic facilities and a superb fan base who deserve success. "Having spoken with Sam Rush and the owners I firmly believe we share the same desires and ambitions and that is to once again make Derby County a Premier League club." CEO Rush said: "Paul Clement is one of the most in-demand coaches in world football and I am delighted that he has agreed to join Derby County as our new Head Coach. "He is hugely respected, has exceptional relationships throughout football and tremendous coaching experience at some of the very best clubs in Europe." Clement spent two years at Madrid, winning the Copa del Rey, Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup. He assisted Ancelotti with Chelsea, Paris St. Germain and Madrid and will now go it alone for the first time.
