Marcelo: I'm going nowhere

Since Cristiano Ronaldo's shock move away from Madrid to Juventus, rumours have also surrounded Marcelo's future at the Santiago Bernabéu but the Brazilian has moved to pour cold water over those rumours.

The left-back enjoyed a close relationship with Ronaldo at Madrid and Juventus were reported to be keen on following their swoop for CR7 with another shock move for Marcelo, especially with Juve coach Massimiliano Allegri enduring a rocky relationship with Alex Sandro.

Marcelo was also surprised to be substituted by boss Julen Lopetegui in Los Blancos' recent victory over Girona, adding fuel to the fire that Marcelo could be the next big Madrid name on his way out of the club.

But the 30-year-old took to Madrid's official TV channel, Real Madrid TV, on Wednesday to ensure fans he will remain at the Bernabéu and will not be following Cristiano to Turin. "It's an element which is hardly worth discussing," he said.

"I'm very happy at Real Madrid, it's my home and I've got many years left on my contract. I'm very happy here, it's the best club in the world and I always want to play for the very best. It's good to talk about it because there are always rumours and it's tough for me to have to continually show I want to be here and can play here. I always give it my best to be at the best club in the world."

He added: "I want to be at Madrid for many years. I'm very calm about it all and I want to continue at Real Madrid. Lots of people hide behind social media to spread ridiculous rumours and cause problems where they don't exist. I'm as hungry as when I was 18 years' old. I'll be here until the end."

Marcelo's words will ease the fears of madridistas believing one of the fans' favourites could be set for a move away from the Spanish capital.
