The past week has been a troublesome one in Catalonia. On Monday morning, it was like waking up from a mildly bad dream. The canaries weren't quite chirping as usual, and the tapas weren't tasting as good. Their cage had been rattled, and the Cules knew it. After taking a pounding from Real Madrid and being lucky to escape alive, a Barca devoid of ideas was stifled by bottom dwellers Villarreal. The gap between them and the leaders, now 7 points. Cue, Barcelona goes apeshit. "Real Madrid don't know how to lose." and then Iniesta backing him up. And then Guardiola invading the pitch during the game and protesting to the referee himself. Even Lionel, 'The Saint' Messi joined the act, whose shot into the Bernabeu crowd was hailed as a blessing to those poor souls he decided to aim at with his magic feet. His rant went something like, "Some referees are superb. They threaten you with cards!" You little midget, you weren't complaining about him when he single handedly won you the Copa del Rey tie 3 days ago. The cherry on the cake, Sandro Rosell, the highest representative of Barcelona himself, throwing down the victim card, saying, "We don't like to talk about referees, but so far we've had the short end of the stick from them." This can only mean one thing. They have truly been shaken up. The last time this happened? When we beat them in the Copa final. The very next game, they're out there diving, cheating, stealing, and ranting at Mourinho. As a Madridista, I love moments when we bring out this ugly side in Barca, because it means we're doing something right. All their carefully crafted marketing, all their propaganda about self victimization, and how they're 'mes que un club', and their noble philosophy of fair play and beautiful football that they teach in the hallowed corridors of La Masia - all of it just comes crumbling down. And if Real Madrid holds strong in the face of this shit storm from Barcelona, spectacular things happen. Like Frank Rijkaard punching out the glass of the Espanyol bench. Like Guardiola complaining about legitimate offside calls against his team, like Samuel Eto'o forcing a suspension just so he won't have to make a pasillo for the arch rivals when they get steamrolled in the league. This new wave of victimismo coming from the Barcelona camp is a sign that we're doing it right. It's only a matter of time before sparks start to fly and we're hopefully on our way to Cibeles. Hala Madrid
Ok, that was a bit harsh but I have to admit, that post was pretty funny.
But its my duty to add a disclaimer: Our writers give their own opinion and it does not necessarily represent the views of Madridismo.org!
Barca has been riding high for some time, but once the winning stops, the criticism settles in and everyone's true colors will come out.
first of all , yesterday i read this post for the first time , as well as i found this website by accident .
God bless you, SiempreReal, i don't know your name , or from where you are , all i can say , that is i promise you , i will be forever your friend beyond the seas , i will wait your posts everyday ,.
at last , after 22 years from supporting REAL MADRID , i really read what i always say in my mind , God bless you SiempreReal , may you live long , and find whatever you want .
Nowadays , the supporters of that team , which i won't even say its name, keep talking about they always depend on their youth school , and forget that from 1998 until 2003 they had 12 players from Holland , they forget about Stark, Ovrebo, ........
they forget , when Inter Milan's players start to celebrating in champions league's semi-final , they open the water on the pitch , in disgraceful scene , they couldn't even imagine any team could win in their acting stadium
Haha, I had forgotten about the water incident !!
This is actually the part that most annoys me about Barcelona, where they pretend to be something they're not. Granted, they do play some silky football when they have to, and their recent youth teams have been really good - but that's as far as it goes. It's the tip of the iceberg visible above the water and the rest, everyone just assumes that all the other BS that they feed you is true. The stuff about being a club with noble values, the proud and defiant protector of Catalan heritage etc. etc. If you look closer though, you see it for the joke that it is. For us Madridistas, its easy to see because we see it every week. But for the rest of the world, it's times like these where they see the light.
No other club runs a propaganda machine as effectively as Barcelona. Heck, no other club has a propaganda machine. Do you remember 2 weeks ago when Barcelona got screwed by the refs? Their GM tried so hard to say "We don't talk about referees, look at Madrid. They lost their 'seniorio' by doing it." And then less than a week later they couldn't hold it in anymore.
Like I said, I love it when their carefully preened and manicured image of 5 years or so just crumbles like the makeup it is. 'The greatest team in history' is currently having to bathe in white fire, and I hope to goodness that before the season is over we turn the heat up even more.
(To echo Chaval, these are strictly my views and not those of Madridismo, org)
Loved the title SiempreReal! And welcome mazen!
