As expected a host of changes were made by Real Madrid for this game, Casillas was rested and Adan started in goal. Raul Albiol, Varane, Arbeloa all started the match in defense for Real Madrid.
Nuri Sahin finally started a game for the away team, Granero and Callejon also started the game for Real Madrid. Higuain and Benzema both started for the away team which was quite a surprise. The pair of them rarely play on the pitch together.
It took Real Madrid just 14 minutes to open the scoring, Callejon scored the opening goal. It was a left footed shot which went past the Ajax keeper, it was Kaka's pass which found Callejon.
Gonzalo Higuaín doubled the lead in the 44th minute, he was assisted bu his strike partner in Karim Benzema.
Real Madrid went into the half-time break leading 2-0.
Karim Benzema was taken off in the 54th minute, Hamit Altintop came on to replace the striker.
Xabi Alonso was introduced in the 59th minute, he replaced Granero who started the game.
Xabi Alonso played a key role in the third goal, it was his pass that found Callejon and the player scored his second goal of the game.
Real Madrid won 3-0 and it was a very comprehensive victory, Adan kept a clean sheet and he could not have hoped for better.
The focus now shifts to the big game on Saturday night, it is indubitably a mouthwatering clash and hundreds of thousands of people will watch it across the globe.
Scoreline aside, I was a bit dissapointed with our performance tonight. Aside from a couple great plays nothing special from Kaká. Callejón was the only who impressed in my opinion. The defense wasn't very solid.
