Madrid traveled to France to take on Lyon in an away game, Lyon were beaten comprehensively in their last game against Madrid.

Madrid went into this game having won all three of their matches this season in the Champions League. As expected Mourinho made changes to the starting line-up.

Lass Diarra and Sami Khedira both started this game and it was quite a surprise. Higuain was on the bench for this game, Benzema started against his former club, Mesut Ozil also started this game.

Ozil found Ronaldo in the 7th minute but his shot was saved, it was a signal of intent from the away team.

Ozil once again found Benzema in the 10th minute whose shot was also saved, some of the link up play in the opening half was really good.

The opening goal of the game came in the 24th minute, Karim Benzema won a free-kick in the attacking half and Ronaldo stepped up to take the free-kick and it was a brilliantly struck free-kick which hit the back of the net.

Xabi Alonso tried to score a spectacular goal in the 28th minute, it was a shot from way over 30 yards but the player failed to hit the target.

Only one goal was scored in the opening half of the game. Madrid went into the half-time break leading 1-0 thanks to a fine goal scored by Ronaldo.

The second goal of the game came in the 69th minute, Mouhamadou Dabo brought down Ronaldo in the box and the referee pointed to the spot. Ronaldo stepped up to take the penalty and scored from the spot kick. It was Ronaldo's 100th goal for Real Madrid, what an amazing milestone the player has achieved and it has hardly taken him any time to achieve it.

Benzema was taken off in the 71st minute, Higuain replaced the Frenchman.

Madrid won the game 2-0 thanks to two goals from Ronaldo. Madrid now have 12 points from 4 games and are surely through to the knockout round of the Champions League.
