Real Madrid locked horns with Real Betis at home, Ozil, Diarra, Ronaldo all started this game for Real Madrid. Khedira, Di Maria and Benzema were on the bench for this one.

The away side made their intentions very clear in the opening minute of the game, a shot from Vadillo which was assisted by Chechu Dorado was well saved by Casillas.

Ozil came into this game having scored a great goal for Germany, he came close to scoring in the 9th minute of the game. His shot was very well blocked by the Betis keeper.

Cristiano Ronaldo came close to scoring in the 18th minute of the game, he was assisted by Diarra but his shot went wide of the target.

Betis made a substitution in the 21st minute, Sergio Rodríguez replaced Vadillo who got injured.

Ronaldo missed a great opportunity in the 22nd minute, Gonzalo Higuaín played a pinpoint ball into the path of Ronaldo but his header went well wide, he should have done much better but he failed to take his chance.

Both the teams failed to score in the first-half and went into the half-time break deadlocked.

The opening goal of the game came in the 46th minute. Whatever Mourinho said at half-time certainly worked. Ronaldo was inevitably involved. He laid the goal literally on a silver platter for Gonzalo Higuaín who tapped the ball home. It was great play from Ronaldo, he was completely unselfish. He could have blasted the ball but he chose to play it into the path of Gonzalo Higuaín who did the rest.

The second-goal came in the 59th minute, Ronaldo provided the assist again but nothing should be taken away from Kaka, he curled the ball in the top corner and it was a peach of a goal.

Kaka was replaced by Di Maria soon after scoring the goal.

Betis pulled one back in the 69th minute, it was scored by Jorge Molina and the assist came from Rubén Castro.

Madrid went 3-1 up minutes after conceding, Di Maria found Higuain who went past the keeper and scored his second goal of the game.

Higuian completed his hat-trick in the 73rd minute, it was a delightful lob over the keeper, Di Maria provided the striker with his second assist of the game.

Ozil was replaced by Fabio Coentrao soon after the goal was scored.

Hamit Altintop replaced Cristiano Ronaldo in the 78h minute.

Higuain could have scored his fourth in injury-time but he tried to beat the keeper once again but on this occasion he was unable to do so and the chance went begging.

The game ended 4-1 in favor of Real Madrid, all the 5 goals were scored in the second-half. Barcelona will lock horns with Racing and could go top of the table again should they win the game.
