Preview: Lyon vs Real Madrid

by Apakshit Sachdeva Nov 2, 2011, 2:56 am

Real Madrid have won all their Champions League games thus far and will surely be looking to extend this good run of form in the competition.

Lyon will be deprived of the services of Michel Bastos, a thigh injury is going to keep the winger out for about three weeks. The home team will also be without the services of Lisandro Lopez who has failed to recover from an ankle injury.

Aly Cissokho may also miss this game, Mouhamadou Dabo should be given the nod should Aly Cissokho fail to start in defense.

Real Madrid have problems of their own, Ricardo Carvalho, Sahin and Raul Albiol are all injured and will certainly miss this game. Alvaro Arbeloa and Kaka would have to undergo late fitness tests which would decide their availability for this game.

Raphael Varane is expected to start this game in defense for Real Madrid, Sergio Ramos should start as right-back for the away team.

Marcelo and Sami Khedira are also expected to start, they will replace Coentrao and Lassana Diarra who started against Real Sociedad in the last game.

Higuain scored the only goal against Sociedad in the last game but he is expected to be replaced by Benzema. Jose Mourinho has accepted that choosing between the two players is an arduous task for him.

Benzema scored against his former club in the last game and he would be expected to do the same this time around too.

Real Madrid have 9 points from 3 games thus far, it would become 12 from 4 should they win tonight's game.
