After the win against Malaga in the Copa del Rey the focus once again shifts back to the La Liga, a 5 point lead can be extended to 8 points should Real Madrid win their away game against Real Mallorca.
The home side come into this game very high on confidence, they battered Real Sociedad 6-1 in the Copa del Rey. The side was completely rotated and several changes are expected to be made for tonight's game. Joaquin Caparros is in a spot of bother because the players who will be left on the bench will not be too happy about it.
Real Madrid will be without the services of Sami Khedira, the player was injured against Malaga in the Copa del Rey.
The away team will also be without the services of Ricardo Carvalho who is currently recuperating from an injury.
Angel Di Maria trained with the team and is ready to be selected but the player will only start the game on the bench, he is yet to regain his match fitness.
Lassana Diarra and Xabi Alonso will spearhead Real Madrid's midfield. Ozil is expected to start the game, the player did not start the game against Malaga but his impact after coming on as a substitute was immense.
Higuain is expected to start the game tonight, Benzema has not been doing full training because of a knock that he picked up in the last league game.
Mallorca sit 14th in the La Liga table, they have managed to pick up 19 points from 14 games.
It should not be a too difficult game for Real Madrid considering the fact that they are going to lock horns with a side which is in the bottom half of the table but football is an unpredictable game.
