In the past few weeks, we’ve seen quite a brilliant transition. Barcelona is going absolute downhill and Madrid are slowly but surely showing the world the prowess this team has. The players, the supporting staff, the whole club – they all are having a certain sense of unanimity amongst them. This dressing room is not divided. This dressing room listens to its coach, it’s obedient and devoted towards its objective. And it’s also enthralling the fans week in week out with impressive performances. But there seems to be a certain problem amongst certain sections of the media and a few fans about Jose Mourinho.
The first problem we had with Jose Mourinho was before he even started coaching us - would he ever be able to bring some entertaining football to the Bernabeu? He’s passed that test. Would he bring a sense of tranquillity and confidence in this team? He’s passed that test. Would he bring a fear into the opponents when playing against Madrid? He’s passed that test as well. We have a chance at the coveted UCL tropy this year, and if Mou is given some peace of mind, he’s going to pass that test as well.
Mou has given answers to every problem we’ve had in the recent past. The ‘entertaining football’ doubt has been entirely because if you don’t find this team entertaining enough to fuel your football needs for a week, you’re probably better off without watching the game. We might not have played ‘entertaining’ football in a couple of games in the past, but you have to give that liberty to a coach. It’s he who has the dibs on who plays, the formation and all other details, and not the dailies or the fans. Yes, we have expectations but hey, he’s never really let us down on the pitch. This team is on the verge of creating history. You can see that and you’d just be a fool to discount Real Madrid. We’re powerful. We’ve got the right balance of everything. The team is more united than ever, but it’s not getting the same love from the fans and/or the media.
Fans are an integral part of the team. Before I deliberate on this part, here’s a small definition for you. The dictionary describes a catalyst as, “Something that causes an important event to happen”. Something that’s imperative to force upon a change, to make things happen. And we’re that substance. We need to know whether to use it effectively or destructively.
If the fans aren’t happy, we’ll see an important change in the recent future. Something that we might even regret in hindsight. It’s important for us to be happy and content with our team. But there’s a difference between having expectations and being nagging. The same goes with the so called ’Madrid newspapers’. This is an important period in our history. If this bunch sticks along, it’s got the potential to be the most devastating team in the recent past. And the bunch includes the coach as well. It’s about time we’re united with this team. Stop calling for the players’ or the coaches head. Stop the boos in the stadium and stick with them through thick and thin. They’ve time and again proved us on the pitch that they’re all dedicated towards the objective of the team. But, if we’re going to be the nagging type, it might just lead to them being tired of having to prove to us every single time. So much so that by the time we’re done winning something, some of them might just say, ‘Here you guys, here’s your coveted trophy, I’m outta here now’.
True some of the antics by the coach have definitely not been what the club symbolises, but the management knows that. They’re smart enough to solve these problems internally so that they don’t occur again. We’ve got a problem if these antics are of a recurring nature, but if not, we’d better let the people at the club do their job of disciplining the ones who break the rule. We’re entering into an important period this season. The CL is getting serious now and it’s important to unanimously stick with this team. Let’s be the 12th man and drive this team to glory and titles. We’ve had enough controversies and we don’t need any more, for this season at least.
This team is hungry for success and it can only achieve it, if you’re supporting it with your heart. Let’s do this. Hala Madrid.
It's like Jose said, the Bernabeu gets restless if the team doesn't keep attacking even if the game is won. I always have thought the Bernabeu to be to critical, the jeer instead of support the team when the teams needs it. Its not a good culture in the stadium. I don't like the Spanish press either, best just to ignore them.
I believe you're right. This team is on the rise. We have incredibly talented and young players. That's why I don't think Mourinho is leaving. Why would he give up the best players in the world and the best team in the world to go start over elsewhere?
Do you think Mourinho passed the Clásico test? Weren't you a tiny bit disappointed at the lineup he used in the first leg of the Copa's Clásico? I'm not saying I blame him or anything, I guess I'm just being the devil's advocate on that one, conveying the reproaches I've massively heard and read back then.
Mou is ambitious. Real Madrid called him when the Barça was a better team than merengues, and he said yes nowing it will be hard to win a competicion to Barcelona. Maybe he will win Champions and Liga and he leaves the team, it's no very hard think about that because he won the three competitions with Inter and he left this team.
Maybe if he win this competitions he decide conquer a new objetive: Win these Barcelona and Real Madrid in Champions with an english team.
Guess that its too early to judge Joses results, the fight just started, and I think that he is doing well!
If Mou left who could train us??
He seems like the best man for the job.
Javier: "It's like Jose said, the Bernabeu gets restless if the team doesn't keep attacking even if the game is won. I always have thought the Bernabeu to be to critical, the jeer instead of support the team when the teams needs it."
I have to disagree here. I strongly believe that as supporters we are allowed to demand attractive football at any time. No matter whether it's 1-0, 2-1 or 5-0. We are Real Madrid and that's what we stand for. In fact, it's one of the reasons I fell in love with our beautiful club in the first place.
Also, but I know I'm a minority there, I rather lose while playing beautiful football, than play ugly and win. (If I wanted this last scenario I'd support an Italian club instead of Real Madrid ;-) )
Gaëlle: I, indeed, was deeply disappointed with that line-up and I blame Mou. Being Real Madrid should include the greatness to _never_ adapt to your opponents game. Believe in your own strengths and let them adopt to you - since you're the most succesful club in the history of football.
LOL, "If I wanted this last scenario I'd support..." --> I had mentally finished that sentence before reading it entirely and I had another option in mind! ;-)
We have to see what happens in Champions League before we can come to any conclusions. Anything short of the final will be a failure.
It would be a failure for Mourinho, you mean? Yeah, I agree...
