About Me:
I'm a Liberian living in a village in Liberia, West Africa. I fell in love with Real Madrid when I saw them played in Philadelphia.
http://www.liberiankids.org
I'm a big fan of di Maria and Diarra. I really hope they stay. These guys play hard and Real could pay a price if they leave.
I know the heart of Madrid is pounding with La liga fever. But here in the village of Kandakaita, Liberia, the celebration nearly got ugly. The elders had to intervene and beg us to stop so that they can get some sleep. The elders succeeded in controling the celebration this year but I'm afarid they'll not be able to do so when we win La Liga and CL next year. I say Y E A H!!!! and Y E A H!!!!!!!! and Y E A H !!!!!!!!!!!! to all Madridistas, Los Merengues and Los Blancos.
Gaelle, if Mou did really say that he wants all the same players back for next season then I’ll certainly have a bone to pick with him in 2013. This is more or less the same team that lost 5-0 to Barca and got dominated by Barca for the last two seasons. This is also the same team that got swept by Bayern within two weeks. And as Gaelle is confirming, this is the same team Mou wants back for next season to face Barca and Bayern. We’ve a problem. I mean a big problem indeed. As I’ve said repeatedly, we need help in the middle. The back and forward can be tweaked but the middle needs improvement. We need one or two qualities who can slice the defense and lay the ball for our strikers to finish. Our current midfielders are great but they don’t give us the edge needed to comfortably defeat the Barcas or the Bayerns out there. Some including Javi have disagreed with me saying we don’t need changes right now because the team is young and given time will improve. I agree with that assessment but I would keep Xabi, Khedira, Granero, Ozil and Di Maria in the middle and release Kaka to make room for one or two qualities. Lass, Altintop and Sahin rarely see playing time. Changes can be made in one or two of those mid positions. I’m looking for a team that will pay Barca back for the embarrassment of that 5-0 defeat. And I want that payback to happen at Camp Nou. The sooner the better!
The only losers here are the subs. To be a professional and a bench warmer is not easy. I hope Mou will give them some mins especially when we're up 2 or 3 goals. This will give management an idea as to who will be with the team next season. Did Mou say he wants the same team back next season? I don't believe it. Kaka is a goner and it's obvious. Barca seems to beat us regularly and Bayern beat us twice within two weeks. I certainly don't like that. I want a team that will beat Barca 5-0. That's more important to me than the records. We need some improvement in the middle.
Javi, as a professional, it’s not easy to be a bench warmer. Our subs or a mixture can still defeat any of the remaining teams we’ve to play. This is truer when we’re leading say, 3 – 0. Gaelle, the record is important but equally important is keeping the team happy. Giving guys playing time has been a big issue at nearly every news conference and it’s time to just do something about it. Consider this for example: Real is up 3 – 0 against Sevilla with 10 mins left on the clock. At this point the subs should come in. This will give management a good idea about who will be with the team next season. I know CR and others don’t like being substituted but this is not about them. The interest of the team is what matters.
The title is in the bag. I just hope Mou will play guys who have not played much this reason in the remaining games. I'm very curious to see what management does to improve this team. We won Copa dey Rey last year and La Liga this year. It'll be a big failure if we don't win the CL next year. Here's what I believe must be done to get this done. The philosophy of the team must be grounded in pure teamwork. I understand CR is a marquee player but this is football. That we should not forget. I think we need a player who can slice the defense and lay the ball for our strikers to finish. I know I always get smacked about this but I love Samir Nasri and Sergio Aguero. I hope we get them.
Great observation, Gaelle. And thanks for the job well done on the press conference.
Amedo1, since we cannot blame the entire team for what you're saying then the coach is at fault. But here's what Mou is thinking. His plan and tactics worked for Chelsea and Inter so why not RM. Your point was clear during and after we lost 5-0 to Barca. We went into a defensive mode and Barca beat us each time. Remember, this took place when Mou took over and implemented his defensive philosophy. He has since loosened up a bit but he's still a defensive coach. So, I agree with you, Javi and Gaelle but what's the solution. Since Mou is going to staying at RM (I really want him to stay) maybe if we add one or two firepower upfront we can do better. I know Bayern is a great team but we're not supposed to lose twice to them and I certainly don't want to see it happen again.
Pep was a great guy but one has to ask why such an abrupt decision. He siad he made this decision last December and told no one. Go figure! Is it because Barca couldn't score a single goal despite Chelsea played with 10 men for 53 mins? Or was it the insult that was added to injury when Chelsea scored even when Barca controlled the game from start to finish? Maybe Barca is not supposed to lose 2 critical games at home.
I've one advice for Tito: get a real sriker. Or have your team take some shots on goal instead of constantly passing the ball back and forth.
As we approach the end of the season we need to start assessing and looking forward to next season. We pretty much know where everyone stands right now but we've no clue for next season. I've a wish list. I'm satisfied with the back but not the middle or forward. First the middle: we need Sergio Aguero and Samir Nasri. I know Sergio plays forward but he can mix it up. I can not see a room for Kaka on this team. He's a bit slow. Kaka had his best years at AC. Now forward: the problem forward is not quality but mental. Lack of team work is killing us forward. No one player - no matter the skill level - can single handedly defeat another team especially at this level.
I'm glad we're on the same page Javier. I hate to see Barca beat us 5-0 again. In fact i'm still waiting to see Real beat Barca 5-0 as a pay back. And believe me the current team is not built to beat Barca 5-0. I would rather lose to last place Racing Santander than Barca. Barca is a team built on holding the ball but holding the ball does mean you can score. Chelsea made that absolutely clear. Barca has no strker and people tell me that Messi is a striker and I say no, he plays the position but he's not. This is why I've said before that we're better that Barca if we can just play as a team forward. The back is OK, not perfect, and the middle certainly needs help. The forward is crying for teamwork.
Javier, being "young and extremely talented" doesn't mean we don't need help next season. We played Bayern twice and technically lost both games. And we seem to have serious problems with Barca. The fact is clear that we've all sort of problems with elite teams. The only strong team we played in the CL was Bayern and look at the result. Now imagine where we'll be if these strong teams become stronger next season and we remain the same.

I've to be frank I didn't watch the entire game. I simply stopped watching when Bayern scored on penalty. Even with a 2 - 1 lead I was not happy with what I was seeing. Despite their defense lapse, Bayern's touches, passes and possession were sharper. I couldn't watch after that considering how important this game was. I hated it more when we carelessly gave the ball away so often to Bayern. Real was about to give me a heart attack. I just couldn't watch it. I was later told that Real did play a bit better after Bayern scored.
Amedo1, you're making my point that we're not a good passing team. Several times, Ronaldo will take the ball on the touchline and head forward with no support. If lucky, he gets fault but in many occasions he loses the ball. Di Maria does it but not as much. When the ball is passed to the defense, they send a long shot forward to no particular Real player. It's like giving the ball away. Granero is great. I hope we get Sergio Aguero or Samir Nasri.
We've the best team but we're not a passing team because we don't play futsal footballing. With our players and skills we could've beaten Barca 4 to 1 if we're a passing team. On several occasions, an open Real player will call for the ball only to see a weak shot taken without a pass. Even the announcer made the point when Big Benz took a weak shot on goal when a simple pass to Ronaldo would've been our 3rd goal.
Look, I really believe Di Maria played very well. As you yourself put it, he did exactly what Mou asked him to do. The team played very well. I think Big Ben made one or two mistakes but I've forgiven him. With 4 minutes to stoppage, he took a shot on goal on a clear 3 on 2 advantage when a simple pass to Ronaldo on the left could've been our 3rd goal.
This win proves my point. We've the best team and the best coach out there. We're better than Barca. It was a team effort today. Give credit where credit is due. I've a message for Bayern: see you at the Bernabeu.
First thing first: we've the best team and the best coach. We're better than Barca. However, having the best team and the best coach doesn't make you number one but it helps at lot. As I've said so many times on this site and on other forums, we must adapt futsal tactics if we want to completely dominate every team we face. Futsal style allows you to control the game and create opportunities. It's a team football rather than individual football.
Fans seem to love Kaka. The guy is a great player but I think he has slow down a little. He's effective but not the Kaka from the Milan days. I blame it on the last injury. I really want Real to play with more intensity in the middle and forward. Di Maria, Ronaldo, Benzema and Ozil will each score for a 4 - 1 Real win next week against Bayern.
