Ancelotti: “We didn’t strain ourselves too much for this game, but everything went to plan.”

Ancelotti, satisfied with today’s performance, attended the press after the match:

“The whole squad will be available for Tuesday. The players who hadn’t had much playing time before now did well, especially Chicharito, who got an important goal. Then there was Jesé as well. We didn’t strain ourselves too much for this game, but everything went to plan”.

“Scoring with a free kick is not an easy thing to do. Cristiano always surprises me because he always wants to get goals and play. That is what sets him apart from other forwards. He is really enjoying the way the team are playing more quickly. It allows him to find more space up front. The team have improved in terms of their speed and that has resulted in more goal scoring opportunities for us”.

“Cristiano has recovered well from Wednesday’s match. Other players had more of a problem, such as Modric, who was a bit worn out, Marcelo and Ramos. I took them off to avoid any problems occurring”.

Champions League
“Our last result against Atlético gives us extra motivation. This will be a different game, a tough one, as it always is against Atlético. We head into this fixture in good form, we are motivated and we are going to give it our all”.

“We have no doubt that this will be an intense game. That is a huge factor for this match, but there will also be other things we will need to make use of. I have a clear plan for Tuesday, all that’s lacking now is the result”.

“He made the most of his opportunity. He scored an important goal and worked very hard. He could have even scored a second. He put in a solid performance. Looking to the future, he is still a Manchester United player so we will look at things again at the end of the season”.

Ramos’s performance
“He has all the tools needed to be a great defender, all the technical ability, the personality, the character and the experience”.

Pepe’s fitness
“He didn’t have any problems in the dressing room. He got a knock but he’ll be fine for Tuesday”.

Isco or James on Tuesday
“Both could play”.

  1. Great we couks rest some players like kroos, if there had been more rotating we might not have dropped so many points. The camp nou match, even though we lost was a turning point.

    • I do not understand Ancelotti. He burned out the first team in the beginning of the season with no subs or very late subs. Why can’t he put someone on at 60 minutes? In this game, he uses the subs to perfection. Could any of the injuries we suffered have been prevented? Could we be in a more progressed state, ready to stuff it to Atleti, like we did last year to Bayern?

I hope Ancelotti has been thinking about a way to get his team to beat Atletico, because since he’s been here, they have our number.

  2. All true true, but with all our players healthy now I think we can get the rotation we need, although in a msall time frame. Atleti has lowered a gear since we last played them and we have moved up a gear, I think the odds are in our favor now.
