Madrid bid big for Lazio midfielder Biglia

Real Madrid have made an offer for Lazio midfielder Lucas Biglia, according to reports in Italy. The Gazetta dello Sport says Los Blancos have made an opening bid of €22 million for the Argentine international. Biglia has been linked with Madrid since Rafa Benitez, who knows the player well from his two years coaching in Italy, succeeded Carlo Ancelotti at the Bernabeu. Benitez has yet to oversee any signings since being named coach but could look at bolstering the midfield given the problems Madrid suffered when Luka Modric was sidelined through injury. However, the report suggests Lazio, who qualified for the Champions League at the expense of Benitez's former club Napoli, will hold out for €30 million with other clubs such as Manchester City and Paris St. Germain interested. Biglia is currently participating in the Copa America with Argentina.
