United drop asking price for David de Gea

Manchester United have dropped their asking price for David de Gea, according to reports. The Premier League club had initially asked for €46 million for the goalkeeper, despite him being out-of-contract next summer, but that figure has dropped to €35 million, according to AS. The move should mean Madrid can close the deal out sooner rather than later and even before the squad returns to pre-season training on July 10. Madrid were reported to have made an opening offer of €30 million for the Spain international but the move from United should see the Florentino Perez give the green light to adding another €5 million to the fee to avoid waiting until next summer to get the player on a free transfer. The new fee is believed to be lower than United want but they do not want Madrid to hold off and pick up their star man for nothing next term. The move could also be to an attempt to soften Madrid up and lower their own demands for defender Sergio Ramos.
