Neymar, Pogba, Van de Beek slipping away

With the clock ticking on this summer's transfer window, Real Madrid fans are growing concerned at the state of play at the Santiago Bernabéu. It all started so brightly. Eden Hazard arrived, flanked by exciting striker Luka Joviç and top young talents Rodrygo and Kubo. Éder Militão and Ferland Mendy strengthened at the back and fans were hopeful of an improved campaign under Zinedine Zidane. Fast-forward two months, with a far from ideal pre-season which brought defeat after defeat and a lengthy injury to Marco Asensio, and things are not looking so bright. Despite those early summer signings the fans, and indeed Zidane, expected more. Manchester United's Paul Pogba was the highest profile name sought by the Blancos coach and more recently, Neymar and Donny Van de Beek have been heavily linked with moves to the Spanish capital. Those deals, however, seem to be slipping into obscurity with the closing of the transfer window edging closer. With nz sports betting you can take your pick at who may come and go as the transfer window closes. Neymar's heart looks set on a return to Barcelona, with Madrid's interest seemingly out of surprise and desperation, with a hint of wanting to get one over on their eternal rivals and prevent the Catalans from adding to an already/impressive attacking line-up. With officials from the Camp Nou having travelling to Paris to begin discussions with the French club, however the ball seems to be Barça's to top. The seemingly more pressing desire to bolster the Madrid midfield also seems to have taken a knock, with United standing firm on keeping Pogba, despite the player's desire to leave. The Frenchman was instrumental in his side's 4-0 thrashing of Chelsea at the weekend and United may do what they deem necessary to keep their star man for a season at least to help them get back into the Champions League. With doubts over Pogba, Ajax man Van de Beek seemed the most likely replacement but the Dutch club now seem confident of keeping one of their prized assets. "It won't be long before there's clarity. I've got high hopes that there will be a positive ending," Ajax director of football Marc Overrmars told Ziggo Sport. "I want to have clarity before a certain date. It's irrelevant what date that is, we know what it is... We've got that date and I think we have our house in order." The next two weeks are going to be vital for Los Blancos if they are to keep Zidane happy and maintain aspirations for trophies this season but as things stand there is still plenty of work to be done.
