Real Madrid have been dealt a blow with the news that Thibaut Courtois could miss the Champions League last-16 second leg clash against Manchester City.
The Belgian goalkeeper suffered a muscle injury in Madrid’s 2-1 defeat at Real Betis on Sunday night and will undergo tests on Monday to reveal the extent of the injury.
Courtois was spotted limping after the defeat, which saw Los Blancos lose top-spot in LaLiga to Barcelona, and is a doubt for Friday’s home match against Eibar.
Courtois could also be a doubt for next Tuesday’s match against City in Manchester, however, a match which Madrid trail 1-2.
Alphonse Areola is on stand-by should Courtois miss out, with the Paris Saint-Germain loan man already having played in both Group Stage matches against Club Brugge.
