Luka Jovic has come in for scathing criticism after breaking Real Madrid’s self-isolation order.

The Serbian striker left his Madrid home to return to Serbia and was spotted out in the city celebrating his girlfriend’s birthday when he should have been staying at home.

Madrid’s players have been in self quarantine since last Thursday after one of the club’s basketball players tested positive for Coronavirus, forcing the cancellation of training the same day and the closure of the club’s Valdebebas training base for at least two weeks.

But while his teammates have been posting photos and videos of themselves training from home on social media, Jovic has been seen breaking those self-isolation rules.

Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic also spoke out against the country’s football players, without naming Jovic, for failing to self-isolate. “We have seen the negative examples from our football stars, who are getting paid millions and are ignoring mandatory self-isolation upon returning home,” she said.

Jovic previously admitted to using the same training facilities as Trey Thompkins, the basketball star who tested positive for the virus.
