Lucas Vázquez plans to finish career in Madrid

Lucas Vázquez says his dream is to finish his career playing for Real Madrid. The 28-year-old has 18 months left on his contract at the Santiago Bernabéu and plans to extend his stay in the Spanish capital beyond that. The winger revealed in an interview with The Guardian that he enjoyed watching the Premier League growing up but his idea is to remain with Madrid and add to the haul of trophies he's already won with Los Blancos. "The dream is to retire at Madrid but in football you don’t know," he told The Guardian. "When I was little, I always watched the Premier League with my brother. It was, it is, very attractive: a nice football to play, one that could fit my characteristics and personality well." The arrival of Eden Hazard left many thinking the Galician would be surplus to requirements at the Bernabéu this season but injuries to the Belgian and a strong relationship with coach Zinedine Zidane has kept Vázquez a key component of Madrid's team this season. Vázquez has made 18 appearances for Madrid so far this season, scoring three times.
