Real Madrid kick-off Champions League

Real Madrid kick-off their 2020/21 Champions League campaign on Wednesday and Thibaut Courtois believes his side can win this season's competition. Los Blancos welcome Shakhtar Donetsk to the Estadio Alfredo Di Stéfano for their Group Stage opener and although the favourites tag may not be attached to Zinedine Zidane's men this season, the club's No.1 has full faith in the team's chances this season. "I have faith in this squad and believe we can win the competition," the Belgian said in the pre-match press conference. "Real Madrid always start as favourites for this tournament and we have the quality to win the Champions League." He continued: "I trust in the squad. We can win the Champions League. Real Madrid always starts out as favourite and I have absolute faith in this team because we've got the quality to win it. "We're hungry and we want to fight for the Champions League. We can't forget that there are other good sides. We won't be the absolute favourites to win it but we're Real Madrid and we're always going to fight and compete to do so. The best teams in the world play in this competition, it's the greatest, and Real Madrid will always be among the favourites." Courtois has arguably been Madrid's best player of the season so far and says he feels as good as ever between the sticks for Los Blancos. "I feel great," he said. "I've kept working hard since the first day I got here until now and it's never easy to make a change. When you come to a new team, you have to adapt, and I expect to keep training hard every day and helping the team."
